This week Genesis celebrated World Book Day 2023! World Book Day at Genesis is always a vibrant day full of fun and excitement. This is due to the fact that everyone at Genesis gets the opportunity to transport themselves to the world of fantasy and their absolute favourite stories.
All staff and service users were asked to dress up in a character costume that they loved. And when the day came we were all floored by the incredible costumes that everyone had put together. The effort that was put into everyone transforming into their favourite character was incredible to see. It really lit up our learning disability care Ipswich based centre.
It is important that we create a community environment, so themed days like this are very important to Genesis, it is a way to bring us all together. This was evident by the different themes that we all put together. During World Book Day 2023 we had three themes: Medieval fantasy, The Addams Family and the magical. As Genesis has a variety of support that does not just revolve around a learning disability care Ipswich based day care centre.
If you were a visitor to Genesis you would have been pleased to see two Teletubbies, Robin Hood, Maid Marion, Friar Tuck, the entire Addams Family, Harry Potter, The Queen of Hearts, and much more. Also, if you took a trip down to our supported living Ipswich based home you would have seen the wonderful guys also dressed up in their favourite costumes. We took all the amazing pictures in this article on the wonderful furniture that The Garden Furniture Workshop creates from their garden sets to their memorial benches Suffolk residents can buy.
What was especially heart-warming was how some service users and their support workers had dressed up in matching outfits. We all thought we were seeing double when our eyes could see two Waldo’s and two Mr Blippy’s! It was lovely to see the coordination of people who access Genesis’ services and that of staff. The strong bonds that have formed between service users and staff was also conveyed on this day.
Everyone did such an amazing job in dressing up for this fun filled day!
