Roald Dahl Day was the perfect opportunity for the Genesis Orwell Mencap community to have lots of fun whilst honouring Dahl’s fantastic stories! There are so many exciting and vibrant worlds that live in his books which meant we could celebrate this day in many magical ways.
Genesis has a wide range of services that we provide for the local community such as recycled bikes Ipswich residents can easily access and memorial benches Suffolk locations receive but creating the best days for people with complex needs inside our own Genesis community is what we do best. Roald Dahl Day gave us the opportunity to do just that.
Our gardening club wanted to create a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed activity which they did with the golden ticket hunt! There were golden tickets hidden in the gardens at Genesis, one for each service user. Once you found your golden ticket you then got a delicious chocolate treat.
In the Art Room there were very magical things occurring. Everyone was making their own dream jar, where they could decide what dream, they wanted to come true. Every jar was personal to the service user who made it. The weeks leading up to Roald Dahl Day the art group and gardening group teamed up for a joint project. They were determined to create a BFG for the day. The result was perfect, everyone did a fantastic job working on such a big art piece. The BFG will now be a permanent part of Genesis!
In the Diner in the afternoon everyone had strawberries dipped in chocolate from the chocolate fountains that were kindly donated to us for use for the day. It was a sweet way to end such a fun filled day! Genesis is a charity that provides quality day care for adults with disabilities and day care for children with disabilities Suffolk. If you would like to support us our two social enterprises, we also sell recycled bikes Ipswich area and memorial benches Suffolk area. Supporting Genesis means supporting adults with disabilities that access day care services as well as day care for children with disabilities Suffolk.
