Genesis Orwell Mencap had a tasty treat in store for our entire community in the form of an ice cream van! Alexander Ices gave us a special visit as they gave out free ice creams to all service users and staff.
It was nearing the end of the summer and to celebrate the final few days of sunshine we decided that ice creams would be a great idea! Two years ago an ice cream van had visited Genesis and seeing the shining smiles and joy as everyone picked their favourite flavour and cone was something we knew we had to bring back. The second time this ice cream van visited was just as joyous. You could see people lining up to order their favourite ice cream with the biggest smiles on their faces. Genesis is a home for many adults with disabilities accessing our Ipswich disability day centre, so to have the opportunity for an ice cream van arrive on their doorstep made a huge difference to their day.
It is bringing moments like this to our community that makes Genesis so special and ensures that we provide quality Ipswich disability day care to service users. Many people with complex needs may not get this opportunity which is why it is so important that we are constantly offering these life experiences.
