elmy cycles logoOur friends at Elmy Cycles Ipswich are celebrating their 100th year in business, and we are pleased to announce that they have chosen to partner with our Green Bike Project, and Genesis is one of their chosen charities for their centenary celebrations!

The Green Bike Project specialises in the bike repair of second hand bikes, providing work based day activities for adults with disabilities, teaching them the skills to be able to repair bikes that get donated to us from the local Ipswich community.

The emphasis of the project is about promoting independence and equality, and encouraging people with disabilities to learn new skills that benefits them, the whole community, and the planet! The repaired bikes are for sale, so that they can be purchased for a low cost to encourage recycling bikes, rather than discarding them.

Steve, the current owner of Elmy Cycles, came by the project earlier this week to see all of the guys and give us the good news. He helped to set up the original Green Bike workshop at Holywells park, and has been a great supporter of the project.

We also have a plaque on the front of our workshop to commemorate the donation made to us in Mr Elmy’s name after he passed away, which is just one example of the many things Elmy Cycles has done to help out their local community.

We look forward to being part of the celebration event later in the year to mark the fantastic achievement of 100 years in business!
